The exposition of a story is like standing at the foot of a mountain you're about to climb.


The rising action of a story is similar to climbing up the mountain.


The climax of a story is the tallest peak of the mountain--the high point.


The falling action of a story is like climbing back down the mountain (and it's always faster going down than up).


The resolution of a story is like standing at the foot of the same mountain after a long climb.
